Service Description

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by reattaching the areas of breakage with adhesive and powdered gold, silver, or bronze. The philosophy behind this art form is to treat breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to discard. Kintsugi is a reminder to stay optimistic when things fall apart and to celebrate the flaws and missteps of life. This is an exceptional experience, likely one of the only studios in the world offering this depth of instruction in such a short period. Participants will not only gain a formal overview of the entire technique but also a rich understanding of the cultural, historical, and environmental aspects that make Kintsugi so meaningful. All materials are provided. For ages 11 and up. What is included in your 3-hour beginner's workshop: 1) An introduction to the history of Kintsugi, how Kintsugi teaches us sustainability and why Kintsugi is considered a healing art. 2) 1 Japanese ceramic of your choice. 3) Full art m
